Athletics Complex Update - December 2020

What's happening in the New Year

To Our Valued Acadia Athletics Complex Members:

As we navigate these uncertain times, we would like to thank our students, faculty/staff, and community members for your patience and acceptance of the Athletics Complex's new processes and guidelines. We are grateful for your understanding of our responsibility to ensure the facility stays operational for Acadia students, protects the people in our complex, and safely integrates campus and community activities.

As the winter break for the Acadia Campus nears, we wanted to provide members with an update to our available services and programs, winter break hours, and plans for 2021. Our last update on October 1st introduced Step Four of our "Scaling for Success" reopening framework, which opened the Fitness Centre to our existing community members and added additional youth programming to the Complex.

Thank you to all our returning members – it is wonderful having you in the Complex again.

As we prepare for the winter break on campus, our hours of operation of the Athletics Complex will be reduced while students return home for the holidays. Our hours will be as follows:

Acadia Athletics Complex Winter Break Hours

December 20th – 23rd, 2020

Our plan for the new year

In anticipation of varsity winter competition, we opened the pool to provide our swim team student-athletes with the facilities they require to train and compete, just as we have for other winter term sports.

Later in the new year, we will explore the reintroduction of additional facility features and programs. Reintroducing all our facility features, and programs will be dependent on meeting all necessary health and safety requirements.  The array of factors to consider include access to staffing requirements, changing facilities, appointment scheduling, and the maximum number of participants. Social distancing measures, mask requirements, and upgraded cleaning protocols will also be part of the requirements for additional space and recreational use. Thank you all for your continued support and understanding during this time. We will continue to ensure that the Acadia Athletics Complex is a safe environment for all our users.

In addition, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our Facility Manager, Richard Johnson, along with his staff, who have worked tirelessly to ensure the Complex is a safe place for our community members, students, and staff/faculty.

We wish happy holidays to you and your family during this special time of year. May 2021 bring brighter days ahead, happiness, and good health.
