Facility Update & Women, Transgender and Non-binary Fitness Centre time
With the recent announcement by the Province of Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Health Authority anticipates the beginning of Phase 5 of the provincial reopening plan to occur on September 15, 2021.
Until then, use of a mask will remain mandatory for any indoor space of the Athletics Complex. Appointments are still required for using the Fitness Centre, Walking Track and Swimming Pool.
Beginning September 15th, if immunizations levels are reached and the Province of Nova Scotia moves to Phase 5, we will release the Acadia Athletics Complex’s Phase 5 plan.
The Acadia Pool operation anticipates swimming lessons to begin in late September, and Aquafit by mid-September.
The updated fall programming schedule has been posted on the Acadia Recreation website.
Women, Transgender, and Non-Binary Gym Time Program
Acadia is excited to announce a new pilot program to create safer, more inclusive access to the Athletics Complex for women, transgender, and non-binary members of our community. The Women, Transgender, and Non-Binary Gym Time Program will begin on September 11th.
Four time slots will be reserved exclusively for the use of members who identify as women, transgender, or non-binary. This program was inspired by Acadia students, and was first envisioned by the ASU Executive, the Women’s Centre, the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Senate Committee, and other members of the Acadia community, including professors and students.
The program was developed in recognition of the various barriers faced by women and gender diverse people in accessing safe workout spaces free from harassment, objectification, and discrimination. The Athletics Complex management is thrilled about the launch of this program, which will mean that many members of our Acadia community will now have a safer and equitable access to the mental and physical health benefits of our gym.
The time slots for the fall semester will be:
Tuesday / Thursday - 7:30 - 8:30am
Saturday - 11:30am - 12 30pm, 12:30 - 1:30pm
Sunday - 3:00pm- 4:00pm, 4:00pm - 5:00 pm

Monday to Saturday – 6:30 am to 11:00 pm
Sunday – 6:30 am to 10:00 pm
