Fitness Center
With help from the Acadia Students’ Union, Alumni donations, and other funding, we were able to create a brand new space for students, athletes, and community members to train in.
Our new space is large, airy, and comes complete with state of the art Cybex and Hoist strength and cardio equipment, including treadmills, ellipticals, rowing machines, and stationary bikes.
Arena
The Andrew H. McCain Arena (formerly Acadia Arena) is a multi-purpose arena in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada. It can seat 1,800 spectators for ice events, an additional 300 standing and an extra 1,000 on the ice surface for other events.
It was built in 1988, and features an Olympic sized ice surface. It is home to the Acadia Axemen ice hockey team.
Gym
The War Memorial Gymnasium - Stu Aberdeen Court is home to a variety of our Axemen & Axewomen varsity teams, sports clubs, intramurals, the SMILE & Kinderskills programs, free public use time and a host of other events & programs.
The court floor is named after legendary Axemen basketball head coach Stu Aberdeen. The Stu Aberdeen Court has a seating capacity of 1,000 along with a a standing room area.
Aerobics & Dance
The Aerobics and Dance studio offers space for Acadia Fitness programming along with space for the local Dance Collective. With its cushion floor, mirrors and dance bars it's built for Fitness. We don't just hold fitness classes in here we also host Kinesiology Fitness labs, Dance Acadia and Acadia Dance Community Collective who offer a variety of dance classes throughout the week.
Also available is the Spinning Room where all spinning classes are offered during the academic year.
Raymond Track & Field
Raymond Field is home to various Acadia Varsity and Club teams along with use by Acadia Intramurals and community soccer and football teams. The field was converted to an artificial surface in 2008 and has roofed stadium seating for 1,000 fans.
Also included is a 400m rubberized track surface with 8 lanes and a steeple chase water pit. The area also includes a long jump pit, javelin runway and shot put circle.
Walking Track
The indoor walking track is housed in the Andrew H. McCain Arena. Walking and running is permitted on the rubberized track that includes an running lane and walking lane.
Walking passes are available at the Acadia Box Office.
